Sheffield Wednesday ‘confirm’ that Alessio Da Cruz has ‘extended’ his ‘loan deal’ until the end of the revised season. The 23-year-old was due to return to Parma at the end of June but will stay at Hillsborough for another month to help Wednesday in their push for the playoffs.

Who did Sheffield Wednesday sign Josh Windass on loan from?

Da Cruz joined the Owls on loan in January and has gone on to make nine appearances in all competitions, making one assist. He’s been a regular under Garry Monk in recent weeks and could stake a claim to be signed permanently if he can contribute more goals.

Prior to joining Wednesday, the £1.71m-rated wide-man scored five goals and made six assists in 15 Serie B appearances on loan at Ascoli. He’s proven his worth in the second-tier in Italy but still has a lot to prove in England.

It remains to be seen if Da Cruz has a future at Parma as he’s only made 10 appearances in two years and has been loaned out to Spezia Calcio (January 11, 2019 – June 30, 2019), Ascoli (August 1, 2019 – January 28, 2020) and Wednesday (January 29, 2020 – present), so Monk might have luck landing his signature.

Time will tell if Da Cruz can impress in Wednesday’s remaining seven games, however.
