With reports that Leeds United are now circling Sheffield Wednesday’s forgotten goalkeeper Keiran Westwood, a number of Owls fans certainly aren’t happy with the development.
Earlier this week the Mirror (Dec 11, P53) covered the speculation, and they weren’t alone, in suggesting that Leeds would come in next month for the 34-year-old but whatever the specifics of the deal, the best we could expect is to save on his wages and ultimately it would be a free transfer.
Whether outright in January or a loan until his contract expires. Not a great bit of business financially given the claims about last summer.
Did Wednesday Blow £3m By Being Greedy Over Player Last Summer
With Westwood being summarily overlooked by manager Jos Luhukay, that was a significant bugbear for fans as they took to social media to react to the news.

If Westwood goes to Leeds United on a Free transfer, the Chansiri will be under more pressure from the fans, and another question to be asked at the forum, hope this is not a true story

If Westwood goes to Leeds on a free transfer that will seriously be enough to tip me over the edge. #swfc

So #swfc freeze out fan’s favourite Westwood in a season where we concede goals for fun… then let him go to One of our fiercest rivals in Leeds Utd ! Is Chansiri just Warnock in a mask, he always said he was gonna take us down then retire to Cornwall…

I don’t think the manager has any choice in the matter. #puppet #puppetmaster

I agree with the first part of your tweet but you are way off with your comment on Dawson. David De Gea would struggle behind the back 2/3/4/5 (whatever Jos plays) every week. You don’t change your defence unless you have injuries.

Westwood made his first appearance of the season last Monday as he turned out for our Under 23 group in their 2-2 draw with Crewe Alexandra and whilst some wondered if it meant he had come back into thoughts, it’s not that much of a leap to suggest we are looking to increase his fitness to help grease a deal now whereby we at least gain on wages – but anyone but Leeds.
