When new Sheffield Wednesday manager Steve Bruce made Achraf Lazaar one of his January transfer window additions it did raise a number of eyebrows.

The 27-year-old quickly became a forgotten man at Newcastle United, making only ten appearances after joining them back in 2016 and he spent the entire 2017/18 campaign out on loan with Benevento and game time wasn’t exactly great there from the best that I can tell.

In any event, Bruce saw him as an option and although he’s yet to debut for us he was in Under 23 action on Tuesday evening as we faced Sheffield United, taking a 2-0 victory on the night.

The run-out would’ve been decent as he builds up his match fitness and sharpness and he almost found the net in the game, but saw the ball rebound off the woodwork. His performance on the night saw him earn quite a fair bit of praise and who knows, maybe he’s now found a home where he’ll properly thrive once again.
