The FA Cup third round draw was completed today as Leeds United were going out of the competition to non-league Histon, and the Owls have drawn Fulham.

Wednesday will play the Premier League side at Hillsborough on the weekend of 3-4 January. An excellent game in prospect against one of the mid table contenders in the top division – Roy Hodgson has the Cottagers playing pretty well, but the Owls will be confident of an upset.

Brian Laws told the official site: “First and foremost, it’s great to be at home, that’s the important thing. It’s also good to get a Premier League team at home and Fulham are a very good side, currently sitting in the top half of the top flight, and looking comfortable in that position. Fulham obviously have some very good players but we certainly fancy ourselves at home. We have a very strong home record in the Championship this season and we will look to translate that into a memorable win in the FA Cup third round.”

In other matches, the Blades face a tricky awayday to Leyton Orient, Barnsley a stiff test away at West Ham, Hull entertain Newcastle, Doncaster visit Morecambe or Cheltenham.

And Leeds?… well, they’ll be thinking about what might have been.
