Cardiff City boss Dave Jones has warned Alan Irvine and his men not to expect an easy ride in the Welsh capital on Saturday.

The Bluebirds have already qualified for the Championship play-offs and could be tempted to rest players and lower the risk of picking up injuries ahead of the end-of-season competition.

But Jones doesn’t want his men to take their foot off the gas and is keen for City to maintain the momentum until the end of the season – starting with three points against relegation-threatened Wednesday.

‘There’s no point taking your foot off the gas,’ Jones told the Sheffield Star.

‘We’re there now. But our job is to keep the momentum going. We’re on a great run and we want to maintain it.

‘I’m chasing down Forest and third spot, and that keeps the momentum going.’

Cardiff fans will also no doubt remember their Hillsborough woe at the end of last season when a 1-0 defeat saw them drop out of the play-off spots in agonising fashion.
