Rumours linking Wednesday boss Brian Laws with a move for Aberdeen midfielder Barry Nicholson have grown this week, with the Owls seemingly favourites for his signature.

The Owls boss has made signing new central midfielders his top priority during the close season, and is said to be keeping a watchfulk eye over the 29-year-old former Rangers youth product.

The Daily Record have already revealed Nicholson has held talks with Wednesday, although Norwich City and Preston are also said to be interested in signing the Scottish international.

And Nicholson wouldn’t command a transfer fee, moving away from Aberdeen on a Bosman free transfer to whichever club takes his fancy.

The Sheffield Star have also picked up on the story, while Aberdeen fans have been on their message forums sayinng they’ll more than miss the determined midfield when he moves away from the SPL side.

Laws could well see Nicholson as the ideal partner for James O’Connor, who is all but signed for the Owls, although Sean McAllister may well have something to say about that.

Keep your eyes peeled to Vital Sheffield Wednesday for all the latest updates.
