New Scout Wanted And Wednesday Youth Update

The Sheffield Star is reporting that Wednesday plan to widen their search for new players by bringing in an experienced European scout ahead of the transfer window reopening this summer.

The Championship club, are looking to appoint a ‘Director of International Recruitment`. With their responsibilities are said to include scouting and reporting of overseas matches, developing relationships with foreign clubs and associations and assisting in the UK football operations of Wednesday.

The Owls are searching for someone who has held a similar position for at least the last five years and speaks fluently in English and Thai.

Gray currently has a multi-national squad and isn’t shy at looking to european and markets further afield to add quality to his squad. As demonstrated by capturing French defender Claude Dielna, Portuguese midfielder Filipe Melo and Romanian striker Sergiu Bus at different stage this season.

Coupled with this Gray is wanting to blood in younger Wednesday squad members to build for the future. With the success of first teamers Palmer and Lavery under his guidance. It seems that several members of Wednesday`s current development squad have sampled training with Gray`s senior side, including Stobbs, William De Havilland and Franck Betra.

Gray said: “If they (youngsters) are good enough, they will get their opportunity. The more players we can produce, the better it is going to be and let`s hope that`s going to happen in the future. It`s getting that right game for them and deciding how many minutes to give them,” he said. “The last thing we want to do is knock a player`s confidence.”

It promises to be a tricky balancing act for Gray over the final month of the campaign. While he is keen to bring through the next generation, the Owls chief is demanding his players finish the campaign with a flourish. Many of whom will be striving to ascertain contracts at the club next season as Wednesday’s fans and new owner set a target of a Premier League return.
