Wednesday striker Clinton Morrison has promised to get on the goal trail this season after admitting he ‘wasn’t doing the business’ last term.

The former Crystal Palace and Birmingham hitman scored Wednesday’s leveller in a 1-1 draw at Charlton Athletic on Monday night minutes after coming off the bench.

He could get his chance in the first team for the next few matches should new signing Ryan Lowe be sidelined through injury alongside fellow new addition Chris O’Grady and Jermaine Johnson.

And he’s promised to grab that chance with both hands as he looks to rejuvinate his career at S6.

‘I know when I play, when I’m fit, I can score goals,’ he told the Sheffield Star.

‘I just want to be given a chance. First and foremost, last season I was nowhere near up to scratch. I didn’t have a pre-season at all. I wasn’t doing the business and didn’t deserve to play. I accept that.’

Morrison was the star addition to Wednesday’s squad in the summer of 2010 but failed to live up to expectations – as the whole squad did – last season.

But he’s off the mark with two goals so far this season and will be looking for more – starting with this weekend’s home clash against MK Dons.
