Sheffield Wednesday fans certainly knew that we had missed striker Steven Fletcher in the midweek defeat to Hull City, and almost as if it proved the point, on Thursday afternoon, the 32-year-old was named as our official Player of the Month for September.
🏆 Our Player of the Month for September #swfc

The Scottish international is having a good season so far, with five goals scored in nine Championship appearances and he’s even chipped in with an assist. Two of those goals came last month in matches against Huddersfield Town and Middlesbrough and given his performances, fans gave him 31% of the vote as he took top spot and pushed Julian Borner (19%) and Atdhe Nuhiu (14%) into second and third place.
Reacting to the news on social media, fans certainly agreed with the open vote and plenty were hopeful that he would again return to contention for this weekend’s clash with Wigan Athletic at Hillsborough.

Having been defeated by Hull, hopefully, Garry Monk will get the side back to winning ways at the first time of asking, even if Fletcher doesn’t make it for this one.
