Megson’s three and a half year plan.

Gary Megson has been appointed the new manager of Sheffield Wednesday on a three and a half year contract.

The first task for Megson will be tomorrow’s game against MK Dons and the Owls will have to put a run together to get back into the promotion mix-up.

A terrible start to 2011 has seen Wednesday fall far behind the leading pack and ultimately cost Alan Irvine his job.

Promotion is what Wednesday fans desire and if Megson can deliver that this season he’ll win over the Owls faithful.

Chairman Milan Mandaric wants the club to be in the Premier League as soon as possible and this length of contract gives Megson considerable time to achieve that.

Megson has already won promotion to the Premier League twice as West Brom boss and his last managerial role was in the top flight with Bolton Wanderers.

Is this the right appointment for the Owls? Has Mandaric moved too quickly to replace Irvine? Are you happy with a former player returning to manage the club?
