Wednesday boss Gary Megson was left to rue his side’s missed chances as the Owls went down to a disappointing 2-0 loss at Bournemouth on Saturday.

The Owls failed to maintain their unbeaten start to the season at Dean Court and Megson highlighted the importance of the Cherries grabbing the first goal of the game.

‘I’m really disappointed because I thought we started the game well, had more the of ball, and looked the most dangerous,’ he told the official SWFC website.

‘But we didn’t take the chances we created and the first goal is crucial in any game.

‘We gifted Bournemouth their first goal with marking that was not like us and then we gifted them their second goal when we switched off and rolled the ball out of play and they scored after the resulting throw in.’

Megson and his Owls squad will now turn their attentions to their next league encounter at Bury in midweek with the aim of returning to winning ways following the south coast setback.
