Wednesday boss Gary Megson has missed out on scooping the npower League One Manager of the Month award for April.

Southampton manager Nigel Adkins took the honour after guiding his men to seven victories from their eight matches, losing the other, to all-but clinch promotion back to the Championship.

Exeter City boss Paul Tisdale and Huddersfield Town manager Lee Clark were also nominated for the monthly accolade.

Despite missing out on making it a monthly trophy double for the Owls – Neil Mellor took the Player of the Month award – Wednesdayites can take plenty of positives from the nomination of Megson for the gong.

The Owls won four, drew two and lost just once – at champions Brighton & Hove Albion – throughout April to give Owls fans reasons to be cheerful going into the close season.
