Owls boss Gary Megson has confirmed an interest in signing Swansea City midfielder Ferrie Bodde before the close of the January transfer window.

The Dutchman has been playing for Swansea reserves recently in a bid to get his career back on track following an injury-hit three years in which he’s played just four games for the Premier League club.

Any deal for the 28-year-old is likely to be a loan deal that suits all parties. Wednesday could get the creative midfielder they’re crying out for, Bodde would get much-needed first-team action on a regular basis and Swansea would get a fully-fit Bodde on his return to Wales.

Megson tried to sign the former Den Haag man during his time at Bolton Wanderers and has been a big fan of the midfielder since. Owls scouts were present to see Bodde impress in a Swansea reserve game against West Brom this week.

The Owls boss has already tried and failed to bolster his squad with a number of midfield players this month following the departure of Ben Marshall back to parent club Stoke City. Mike Jones has arrived from Bury but Megson is hoping to capture Bodde to bolster his side’s push for promotion.
