Owls midfielder Rhys McCabe has joined Portsmouth on an emergency loan for the rest of the season.

The former Glasgow Rangers man has seen his time on the pitch limited in the blue and white stripes this season and will hope for more regular action with League Two Pompey between now and the end of the campaign.

The 21-year-old has made just nine appearances for the Owls this season, scoring one goal, and his last outing came in the 2-0 victory at Reading in early February.

He will swap the Championship for a relegation battle in League Two, with Pompey sitting just four points above the relegation zone. He could make his debut in his new club’s home match against York at the weekend.
