Match Stats: Sheffield Wednesday v Hull City

|

With an opening day defeat to Wigan Athletic as Sheffield Wednesday opened up the 2018/19 Championship campaign, it was all eyes to Hull City and hopefully the first three points of the campaign earlier today.

Hosting Nigel Adkins’ side at Hillsborough for the tie, plenty of fans had mixed emotions going into the game given the summer we’ve had.

With 36 minutes played Hull did take advantage as Fraizer Campbell found the back of the net, but second half we responded and Fernando Forestieri made it two goals from two games as he took full advantage from 12 yards to bury his penalty in the back of the net to bring us back to level terms.

1-1 was how the game ended so we only took a point for our efforts but it gets us off the mark in the table and if fans are looking for positives, we certainly had the chances to win it with Steven Fletcher missing a number of good chances as he continues to build his fitness – so hopefully that clinical edge will come in time for him as he could’ve had a hat-trick on the day.
