The Football League have now announced the Match Day officials that will take charge of the game against Chesterfield this Tuesday.

Sheffield Wednesday host Chesterfield on Tuesday August 8 for the League Cup Round One tie at Hillsborough and the match carries a 7.45pm kick off.

Referee: Ross Joyce
Assistant Refs: Matthew Jones and Gareth Mellor
Fourth Official: Peter Wright

Match Day referee Joyce has officiated one game in 2017/18, showing three yellow cards already.

He took in 44 games in 2016/17 with a return of 182 yellow cards and 12 red cards.

His highest card count that year was eight yellows and one red in the game between Carlisle United and Exeter City.

He took in 29 matches in 2015/16 and in those games, across all competitions and football divisions, he handed out a total of 106 yellow cards and six red cards.

He was most card happy in the match between Gillingham and Port Vale in April where he showed eight yellow cards. Prior to that in the Mansfield and Wimbledon game in September he showed seven yellows and one red.

Let`s hope it`s not another repeat and more of our players edge closer to automatic bans.
