Owls chairman Milan Mandaric has revealed that he’s still hoping to add ‘two or three’ new players to the squad when the loan window opens.

Mandaric helped Alan Irvine, the Wednesday manager, bring five new players to bolster the squad in the January transfer window.

QPR winger Lee Cook looked set to be the sixth arrival late last night, a move which collapsed at the last minute after Cook decided to stay at Loftus Road.

But, although the January window has slammed shut, Wednesday fans can look forward to some more new additions when the loan window opens next week.

Mandaric is keen to further bolster the squad in a bid to get the Owls back into the Championship at the first attempt.

It looks like a creative midfielder will be a priority following the collapse of the Cook deal.
