Wednesday chairman Milan Mandaric has been linked with the buyout of crisis-hit Scottish club Rangers.

The SPL side went into administration earlier this week and sources north of the border indicate Mandaric has been in contact with the administrators, Duff and Phelps, at Ibrox to show his interest.

The company said yesterday there have been ‘several expressions of interest from parties not connected to the club’, with BBC Scotland reporting that they believe Wednesday’s former Leicester City and Portsmouth owner to be one of.

The 73-year-old Serbian businessman, who’s officially been chairman at Hillsborough for just under a year, has made saving clubs from financial problems a speciality following previous jobs at Pompey and Leicester – and stepped in with the Owls close to administration.

Mandaric has yet to confirm or deny today’s reports. If and when he does, you’ll see his comments right here on Vital Sheffield Wednesday.
