Wednesday striker Steven Maclean is set to return to full training with the rest of the Owls squad on Monday after recovering from an injured knee – almost two-weeks ahead of schedule.

The former Rangers and Scunthorpe United man has been sidelined since jarring his knee in Wednesday’s 1-1 draw with Burnley at Hillsborough last month.

And his return will be a welcome boost to Owsl boss Paul Sturrock as the Owls are currently the joint lowest scorers in the Championship with just four so far this term – and just two from open play.

Deon Burton and Marcus Tudgay have recently returned from injury and have featured in the Owls attack for the last two games. But the added competition for places is sure to benefit Wednesday and give them an extra dimension up front.

Owls fans will be hoping Macca can stay injury free for the reaminder of the season after a number of injuries blighted his career in S6 since his arrival from Glasgow Rangers in the summer of 2004. The hitman has netted 21 in 43 starts for the Owls.
