Wednesday midfielder Sean McAllister wants to stay at Hillsborough and is hoping he has enough time to earn a new contract at the club.

The 22-year-old is out-of-contract at the end of the season and has had little game time to impress boss Alan Irvine since his arrival at the club.

The Owls Academy product is one of a number of players to see his contract at S6 run out at the end of the season.

And he’s hoping to get his chance to show what he can do in Wednesday’s crucial final four matches of the Championship campaign.

He told the Sheffield Star: ‘It’s been a frustrating time: I’ve not been able to start earning a new deal. But hopefully I’ll be available soon, and the gaffer has seen me in training. He knows what I can do.

‘He knows his stuff on all his players; he knew about me before he came in. Hopefully I’ll be able to show him even more what I can do.’

The midfielder is unlikely to be available for the trip to Middlesbrough this weekend but could be in contention for the huge Steel City Derby at Hillsborough next weekend.
