Wednesday have announced ticket sales of just 15,000 for the home areas for the Owls’ crucial clash against Watford on Wednesday night.

As things stand, the gate could well be the lowest of the season at Hillsborough with the Hornets expected to bring a following less than 1,000.

It’s disappointing for a match which is so crucial to Wednesday’s season, one which could well go a long way to deciding whether the Owls will be playing Championship or League 1 football next term.

Just 1,000 home tickets had been bought on top of the season ticket holders as of Tuesday afternoon.

More fans are expected to buy on the gate and boss Alan Irvine is hoping for a strong support for the vital clash, which kicks off at 7.45pm.

‘Without question this is a massive game for us,’ Irvine told the official SWFC website.

‘The players know that, I know that, the staff know that and the fans know that. Watford will know that as well and they will be thinking that if they can win at Hillsborough they will open up a nice gap between us and them but if we win we will see it as a big step forward for us.’

Tickets are available from just £16 for the game and can be bought online at www.swfc.co.uk/tickets.
