Owls winger Richie Partridge should be given a chance to shine in the Wednesday first team according to a whopping 94 per cent of Vital Sheffield Wednesday users.

Last week we asked fans whether or not the former Liverpool and Coventry man should be given a chance in the team, as Paul Sturrock used Lee Bullen on the wing instead of using the tricky winger.

A staggering 94 per cent of fans wanted to see Partridge run out in the blue and white shirt, and they got their wish on Saturday when he was included in the starting eleven – although Sturrock could have done little else with the current injury crisis at the club.

In recent weeks the winger has been over-looked, with Sturrock preferring defender Lee Bullen on the right-wing, and before him – John Hills. Marcus Tudgay has also been used in that position.

Partridge didn’t have the best of games on Saturday – but then again nobody in an Owls shirt did – even Graham Coughlan struggled to get any credit from the dire performance.

We’ll see if Sturrock keeps faith with Partridge at Cardiff City on Saturday, or whether he decides on changing his hand again.

The Irishman signed for the Owls last summer when he was released from Anfield after loan spells with Bristol Rovers and Coventry City. So far he has made just six starts for the club, scoring one goal in the cup victory at Stockport County.
