Morgan Fox looks set to leave Sheffield Wednesday this summer after the Owls confirmed in their 2019/20 retained list that the 26-year-old ‘declined’ to extend his contract. Fox has been in talks with the Owls over a new deal since January, but it seems he either wants more money or a fresh challenge elsewhere next season.

Who did Sheffield Wednesday sign Josh Windass on loan from?

Fox joined Wednesday from Charlton Athletic in 2017 and has gone on to make 102 appearances in all competitions, scoring four goals and making six assists. The Welsh left-back has been a regular under Garry Monk, making 31 appearances across the board, but his efforts have done very little to turn around Wednesday’s fortunes.

The Owls currently sit 15th in the Championship with 49 points from 38 games, picking up just two wins in their last 15 outings, so Fox can’t be blamed for keeping his options open. The 26-year-old has been linked with a move to Huddersfield Town, Nottingham Forest and West Bromwich Albion, so any move would be an improvement on Wednesday.

Matt Penney has signed a new deal and could replace Fox next season. Liam Palmer is also a makeshift option that Monk could call upon. Time will tell who gets the nod.
