Wednesday could be dealt a triple boost at a vital time in the Championship season with the news that Francis Jeffers, Frank Simek and Steve Watson have all returned to training.

Owls boss Brian Laws has been down to the bare bones in recent weeks, forcing him to enter in to the loan market, but he could well be given a huge boost with the positive injury news as the Owls look to pull themselves out of relegation trouble.

The trio all came through a practice match at Middlewood Road, and are set to get a run-out in a reserve fixture next week as they look to step up to first-team action in the coming weeks.

Laws told the Sheffield Star: ‘Jeffers and Watson looked sharp in the practice match and both scored, and it was nice to see Simek back in action.

‘Obviously they’re going to be match-rusty, which should be expected.

‘I’m going to look at playing them in the next reserve game (at York next Wednesday] and make another assessment after that.’

The Wednesday boss is likely to be extra careful over the return of former Everton and Arsenal mann Jeffers, but his return to the fold could provide the extra ammunition required in attack to help ease the Owls’ relegation fears.
