Wednesday boss Brian Laws has taken his search for new players to Denmark as he looks to bolster his injury-ravaged squad.

Laws will be hoping for Geoff Sheard’s proposed takeover of the club goes through sooner rather than later and that he’s given sufficient funds to strengthen his squad, be it in January or in the loan market immediately.

But the Wednesday gaffer has travelled over to Denmark to keep an eye on prospective new signings, with contracts coming to an end at the end of December.

‘I took in a game in Denmark to look at a player. In Denmark, in particular, the contracts tend to run out towards the end of December,’ he told BBC Sport.

‘I’ve got to make sure I cover all avenues, whether it be loan or permanent,’ Laws added.

Wednesday are without key men Akpo Sodje, Frank Simek, Francis Jeffers, Richard Hinds and Wade Small with the season only a matter of weeks old.

And although the Owls kept quiet around the transfer deadline, Laws will no doubt be keen to add players on loan, and in the January transfer window, to bolster his squad.
