Wednesday boss Brian Laws revealed it’d be ‘handy’ if he could send some of his current squad players out on loan for the rest of the season.

Laws has ruled out bringing any further players in to bolster his squad before the end of the season, with loanee Luke Varney his last bit of business this term.

But he’s admitted that he’s still looking for routes out of the club for certain players – but no interest has yet to be shown.

He told the Sheffield Star: ‘It would be handy if we could get one or two players out on loan, to balance things out.

‘We have e-mailed all clubs about who would be available, but have not have any takers yet.’

Out-of-favour Peter Gilbert, linked with a move to Plymouth Argyle earlier this season, is one such name who Laws may think could benefit from a loan spell away from Hillsborough.

And the Wednesday boss will no doubt continue to look for short-term deals for his ‘squad players’ before the close of the current window.
