Scunthorpe United manager Brian Laws is the latest name to be interviewed for the vacant managerial post at Hillsborough – a list which chairman Dave Allen has shortened to three candidates.

The Owls chairman revealed the news on BBC Radio Sheffield this afternoon – as the club look to appoint a new man at the helm within the next week following the sack of Paul Sturrock almost a week ago.

Laws began his managerial career at Grimsby Town where he won 30 of his 99 games in charge, losing 41 and drawing 28 before moving to rivals Scunthorpe United in 1997.

He took the Iron to promotion in 1998/99 and has since helped Scunthorpe to fourth place in League One with a chance of promotion to the Championship after years of struggling in the lower leagues.

It’s thought that former West brom and Nottingham Forest manager Gary Megson is one of the three who are shortlisted for the role while Graham Taylor and Burnley boss Steve Cotterill have also been linked with the hot-seat.
