Wednesday boss Brian Laws is hoping his loan striker target gives Wednesday the nod to bolster the Owls’ attacking options this week.

Laws has been looking to use his limited resources to bring a new striker to the club on a loan deal.

And he’s been forced to step up his search in light of injuries to Akpo Sodje and Leon Clarke recently.

It’s understood that Laws has already spoke with his target and agent and is expecting a decision to be made in time for the Owls’ trip to Peterborough United on Saturday.

It’s also thought that Wednesday are having to fend off competition from another Championship club for the striker’s services.

Numerous names have been thrown into the hat, including Everton’s Victor Anichebe and Wolves’ Andy Keogh, who Laws has worked with at Scunthorpe United.
