Wednesday boss Brian Laws is just as desperate for investment in Wednesday as the fans as he looks to continue improving his cut-price squad.

Laws celebrates his third anniversary in the Wednesday hotseat this week and is hoping that the next three years will see a huge progression in the financial situation at S6.

Investment has been the buzz word for Wednesdayites for many years, but Laws is keen for the process for a cash injection for players to come sooner rather than later to help speed up the ultimate goal of sending the Owls to the Premier League.

Laws is still confident of success without the right investment, but insists it’ll be a lot slower without the added aid of financial backing.

‘Since I have been here, we have taken steps forward. I believe the club has now stabilised and is in desperate need of new finance to kick it on. I would like to be here a lot longer to be part of that,’ he told the Yorkshire Post.

‘It will progress without new investment,’ he added. ‘But the progress will be slow and not as quick as people want.’

The Owls gaffer says he has ‘hardly spent anything’ since his arrival at the helm from Scunthorpe United three years ago.

It’s likely to be more of the same in the January transfer window as Wednesday limp along in mid-table of the Championship.
