Wednesday boss Brian Laws was delighted at the way his troops bounced back from their Steel City setback with three points against Dave Jones’s Cardiff City on Saturday.

The Owls boss was keen for his men to make amends for their 3-2 reverse against the red and white side of Sheffield last weekend, and they all but put it to bed with a comprehensive win against the Bluebirds.

And he couldn’t hide his joy at the three points in the post-match press conference, telling the official SWFC website: ‘I couldn’t ask for a better reaction to the disappointment of last week than to beat Cardiff, who are a team that is almost always around the top six. They are a good side so I am very pleased with today’s result.’

Laws revealed that he felt Michael Chopra’s disallowed effort, for being offisde, should have stood, but that once his side got the second crucial goal through Luke Varney, there was only one winner.

He continued: ‘Our second goal was the turning point because it gave us the extra incentive to go forward. They were committing themselves and we were able to exploit that space.’
