Wednesday boss Brian Laws has raised concerns over winger Jermaine Johnson’s busy summer schedule with the Jamaican national side.

Johnson has returned home to Jamaica to be part of their friendly and CONCACAF Gold Cup matches over the summer.

Laws has fears that the jet-heeled winger could return back to South Yorkshire fatigued following his busy summer scheduled, and not in tip-top form for the new Owls’ season.

And he’s revealed that he’ll be talking to Jamaica boss John Barnes about Johnson’s schedule.

‘l’ll be speaking to John Barnes over the next few weeks to see if we can come to some sort of understanding,’ he told the Sheffield Star.

‘The time that JJ is spending away will be a big part of his pre-season programme.’

Wednesday will have already started their pre-season training when Jamaica are in Gold cup action, being involved in at least three matches through to July.
