Wednesdayite chairman Darryl Keys has revealed that he’d be ‘extremely surprised’ if the takeover saga at S6 isn’t resolved in one way or another in the next fortnight.

The on-off deal being put together by a consortium led by Lancashire businessman Geoff Sheard has been in talks regarding a takeover of the Owls for months, but as time has passed by Owls’ fans have grown increasingly concerned, and fed up, with the on-going saga, with little or no end in sight.

Sheard came under fire in the press last week regarding the people involved in the deal, but Wednesdayite have since met with the Lancastrian at Hillsborough when he was again in the directors’ box for the visit of Ipswich Town at the weekend.

And one way or another, Keys insists a conclusion to the matter is not far away as far as Geoff Sheard is concerned.

‘He understands he needs to speed up the process but there are no guarantees; it is all extremely complicated,’ Keys told the Sheffield Star.

He continued: ‘This is the start of the end-game. There are other people who have expressed some interest and I would say there are options if the Sheard bid should fall through.,’ he added.

‘But we are now moving towards the conclusion whatever that may be. I would be extremely surprised if it is not sorted in two weeks.

‘We were happy to help and, for everyone’s sake, we all want something to happen soon.’
