Owls boss Paul Sturrock will look forward to seeing long-term absentees Jon-Paul McGovern and Steve Adams back in action tonight in a behind-closed-doors friendly.

McGovern has only featured three times for the Owls this season after recieving back and thigh injuries. Sturrock did not want to gamble on the former Livingston man’s fitness by bringing him back too early.

Adams returned to action in late 2005 before suffering achilles tendon trouble which has seen him sidelines for the whole of 2006.

Sturrock revealed to the official site that he hopes Adams will complete over an hour in the match – which will see him in contention for a place in the squad to travel to Wolves at the weekend.

McGovern is slightly behind Adams in terms of progress, and hopes to complete the first half of the match.

The return of the pair will almost be like the signing of two new players to Sturrock – who has highlighted the need for new players in the battle against relegation.
