Former Wednesday loanee Kenwyne Jones has revealed he can’t wait to return to his happy hunting ground Hillsborough – but to shoot the Saints to victory.

Former Owls boss Paul Sturrock brought Jones to Hillsborough on a loan deal which saw him help lift Wednesday in to the League One play-off spots by netting seven goals in seven appearances – leading to the Owls faithful calling for a permanent deal for the Trinidad & Tobago striker.

‘It will be nice to go back there because I had a very good time at Hillsborough and did pretty well when I was there,’ Jones told the official Saints site.

‘It was my first experience of league football and maybe the excitement of it all carried me along because things just went for me.’

And Kenwyne isn’t taking the threat of his former club lightly after taking note of the current form which has seen Wednesday climb to within four points of the play-off spots.

‘It will be nice to play up there again because they are a massive club – you can see that from the stadium and the support. They are going well at the moment and have hit some form under their new manager so it will be a real tough game for us.’ he added.

‘Although I enjoyed my time there, my main concern is helping us get three points because it is so vital we get promoted. We want to get back to the top flight – ideally automatically rather than the play-offs but we will take it however it comes.’
