Wednesday boss Dave Jones cared little about the dull nature of his side’s encounter with Peterborough United as the Owls picked up all three points thanks to a 2-1 win at Hillsborough on Saturday.

Second-half strikes from Ross Barkley and Miguel Llera were enough to give Wednesday a much-needed second win on the spin, despite a late goal from George Boyd for the visitors.

It was far from a classic, but that mattered little for Jones as his men chalked up their first home league win since August and moved out of the Championship relegation zone in the process.

“It`s a win, a bit of a dull game, but it`s a win and I will take that every time,’ he told the official SWFC website.

“We have played better than that and lost earlier in the season and it wasn`t one of our best performances but sometimes you need the scrappy wins and I will take it.

“The first half was really lacklustre and we raised the tempo after the game. Like most teams, we are at our best when we play at a high tempo.

“But I don`t want to be negative about the performance because there were a lot of positives out there.’

Wednesday will be out to make it a hat-trick of league wins when they host managerless Blackpool at Hillsborough on Tuesday night.
