Owls boss Dave Jones was pleased with a point against Leeds United – but said it could have been better for his side at Elland Road.

Ross McCormack levelled Kamil Zayatte’s opener to ensure the Yorkshire derby finished all-square on Saturday lunchtime and although Jones admitted he would have taken a point – Wednesday’s first of the season – before the game, he thought the Owls could have left with all three.

‘We played well and I think most managers would have taken a point from Elland Road before the game,’ he said.

‘But I thought we should have taken all three points. We had the chances, we might have had a penalty and in the end we were unlucky.

‘We should have done better for their goal and we will continue to work on those situations.

‘But overall we have done OK, we are off the mark and now we move onto the next game.’

The result was an improvement on last season’s 2-1 defeat in West Yorkshire and Wednesday will target their first victory of the season next Saturday when Millwall visit Hillsborough.
