Wednesday winger Jermaine Johnson says he wants to stay at Wednesday beyond the end of this season and pen a new deal at Hillsborough.
The jet-heeled Jamaican signed a one-year deal last summer and he’s playing to impress Owls boss Gary Megson and earn a new contract to remain at Wednesday next term.
‘I don’t see myself playing in front of 5,000,’ JJ told the Sheffield Star.
‘I see myself at Sheffield Wednesday for a long time, if the gaffer wants to give me a new contract.
‘I’m enjoying my football big time. I just need to stay fit, keep working and hopefully I’ll stay at Wednesday.’
Johnson, a former Bradford City and Bolton Wanderers player, has been enjoying a purple patch of form in recent matches after finding himself mostly warming the bench this term.
His superb strike in the Owls’ 2-1 victory at Yeovil Town on Saturday has highlighted that form – but Wednesday fans are well aware of the inconsistencies that thwart his game.
The 31-year-old has gone a long way to showing he still has plenty to offer the Owls with his performances of late, however, and he’ll be keen for that to continue between now and the end of the season as he looks to help the Owls to promotion from npower League One.
