Wednesday boss Gary Megson has confirmed he’ll offer Owls wing wizard Jermaine Johnson a new contract this summer.

The Jamaican’s contract expires at the end of the current campaign but, with questions being raised as to who Megson will keep and let go this summer, Johnson is the first the Owls boss has confirmed he’d like to stay at Hillsborough.

Megson said: ‘There are things in his game you can’t improve – ie, his running with the ball, his pace, his quality – but he very rarely finishes a game, because of tiredness, and away from home his performances haven`t been up to what’s required to enable us to get results.

‘So I have spoken to Jermaine. His contract is coming to an end. He will be offered a contract and we’ll see where we go from there.’

The 30-year-old started in yesterday’s 3-1 victory over Swindon Town and is one of a number of players who will see their current contracts come to an end following this season.
