Wednesday striker Francis Jeffers is set to make his long-awaited return to action in the Owls’ friendly clash with MK Dons on Tuesday night.

Jeffers, who has seen his professional career blighted by numerous injuries, will be hoping his comeback is a successful one as he looks to make an impact in the Wednesday side this season.

‘Jeffers is fully involved in training now and should play some part against MK Dons,’ Brain Laws told BBC Radio Sheffield.

‘We expect him to start pushing on, progressing and pressuring the other strikers at the club.’

The 27-year-old was sidelined with ankle ligament damage sustained in the Owls’ victory at Stoke City last season after moving to S6 from Blackburn Rovers last summer.

He showed glimpses of his skill when he was on the pitch, most notably with his superb strike against Hull City, and will be hoping to enjoy a more successful stint on the pitch in the famous blue and white this season – starting with his return at Stadium MK this week.
