Blackburn Rovers striker Francis Jeffers is the latest name linked with a move to Hillsborough after Owls boss Brian Laws revealed he was discussing a move with a Premiership striker.

Celtic striker Derek Riordan has also been in the frame for the Owls’ number nine shirt, but with Laws revealing his hopes for a striker from the Premiership, all eyes are on the former Everton and Arsenal ‘fox in the box’.

Jeffers could have been lining up against Wednesday on Saturday in the colours of Ipswich Town, but Jim Magilton was forced to pull out of a deal for their loan star due to wage demands.

And with Wednesday having similar problems at bringing a new striker to the club, the wage demands of the Everton youth product could also prove a problem for Brian Laws as he looks to add a new attacking option before the weekend.
