Following today’s clash between Swansea City and Sheffield Wednesday, here are the instant reactions from both managers.

Swansea City hosted Sheffield Wednesday at the Liberty Stadium for an 8.05pm kick off in the FA Cup fifth round replay on Tuesday February 27, with the hosts taking a two nil victory.

Goals from Jordan Ayew and Nathan Dyer gave the Premier League side a second half victory in the replay and Wednesday won’t feel too aggrieved given their performance on the day as Swansea did have the greater chances and possession.

Swansea reach the quarter final stage of the FA Cup for the first time since 1964.

Fox, Baker, Wildsmith, Pelupessy.

Speaking to the BBC’s cameras a short time after match day referee Stuart Attwell blew the final whistle, Swansea gaffer Carlos Carvalhal explained.

‘1964 is a long time ago. I know because I was born in 1965. Swansea have now made the best path in the cup since then so it’s a little part of history and we are happy about that. I’m very proud of my players.’

He added.

‘After scoring the two goals we closed the house. We closed the doors and we closed the windows. The main competition for us is the Premier League, but now this competition is important for us as well. We now have a situation where it could be possible to go to Wembley.’

Sheffield Wednesday head coach Jos Luhukay in his comparative interview explained.

‘I think the first half was in the balance between the two teams, we had two or three chances to score. In the second half we could not give the pressure we like to do and Swansea scored the goal and then it was very difficult to come back into the game. We tried after the goal from Swansea, we put on an extra striker, but we could not get in behind because Swansea are strong defensively. They showed good quality.’
