Garry Monk has revealed that Morgan Fox could return ahead of Sheffield Wednesday’s meeting with Birmingham City on Saturday. The 26-year-old is back training with the first-team after recovering from an ankle injury and is expected to be

Monk told Richie Boon of the Sheffield Star: “Fox has been back out on the pitches and hopefully we will see him this weekend. We still have another training tomorrow to assess things.”

Fox picked up the ankle injury in Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat to Wigan Athletic (January 28) and has missed the Owls’ 0-0 draw with Millwall (February 1), 1-1 draw with Barnsley (February 8), 1-0 defeat to Luton Town (February 12) and 3-0 defeat to Reading (February 15).

The 26-year-old has made 26 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring and creating four goals. Fox was named Wednesday’s Player of the Month for his form in January, so he’s been a big loss in recent weeks.

Moses Odubajo, Liam Palmer and Fernando Forestieri have filled in at left-back to varying degrees of success in February. It’s unlikely Fox will be fit enough to start on the weekend, so Palmer may get the nod again from Monk.

Ahead of their meeting with Birmingham, Wednesday sit 12th in the Championship and have picked up only five points from their last 10 games.
