Sheffield Wednesday confirm Liam Palmer ‘will miss’ Saturday’s FA Cup clash with Brighton & Hove Albion as he’s still out of action with an ankle injury.

How will Sheffield Wednesday fare against Brighton & Hove Albion?

Win

Draw

Lose

The 28-year-old was the recipient of a heavy challenge from Junior Hoilett in Wednesday’s 2-1 defeat to Cardiff City (December 29, 2019) and missed the Owls’ 1-0 defeat to Hull City (January 1, 2020) as a result.

Garry Monk started Dominic Iorfa in place of Palmer against Hull, but he also has Moses Odubajo at his disposal. The Wednesday manager is likely to ring the changes against Brighton, so Odubajo could be given the nod at right-back. Time will tell.

The official club update says Palmer is making progress in his recovery, but Saturday’s game has come too soon. It remains to be seen whether the 28-year-old will be fit to face Leeds United (January 11).

Brighton will be favourites to come out on top. The Seagulls have home advantage and are coming off the back of a win and a draw from their previous two. Wednesday, on the other hand, have lost three consecutive league games and have only two away wins from their last eight in all competitions.
