Sheffield Wednesday have confirmed that Josh Windass is ‘unavailable’ to face West Bromwich Albion on Wednesday after suffering a ‘minor injury’ in training. The 26-year-old recently extended his loan deal until the end of the revised season and was said to be on the comeback trail before this latest setback. It now remains to be seen when Windass will feature for the Owls.
In his absence, Garry Monk is likely to name Kieran Lee, Barry Bannan and Massimo Luongo in a three-man midfield. Alex Hunt and Joey Pelupessy are options too. Ahead of this evening’s meeting with West Brom, Wednesday find themselves 13th in the Championship with 52 points from 39 games, coming off the back of one draw and one win from their last two outings.
Wednesday face an Albion side in poor form too. The Baggies are second in the table, but they’re without a win in their last four games and have picked up only one point from their previous two away outings. Victory for the Owls could see them climb one place in the table and make up ground on sides in the top half. They’ll have to do it without the £1.44m-rated Windass, however.
