Sheffield Wednesday midfielder Barry Bannan made the switch to Hillsborough from Crystal Palace back in August 2015 and it’s fair to say neither the player nor the club have actually looked back.
The now 28-year-old Scotland international has racked up 122 starting appearances in our colours, with an additional three showings from the substitutes bench. In that time he’s scored six goals for us across all competitions and whilst his goal return should definitely be greater in number, when they do come along they are arguably worth waiting for!
He only came in originally on a 12-month contract and having quickly won over the fans, that deal was extended and despite the summer we had with Financial Fair Play biting, he did, of course, commit to a new deal the other month much to the delight of Owls fans everywhere.
@swfc @bazzabannan25 welcome to the owls hope you enjoy your time with us #WAWAW ????⚪️

With some hits and misses in transfer dealings over the last few years, this is certainly a deal that has worked out for us on a number of levels and the early faith shown in him by fans when we announced his capture has definitely been rewarded as the above Tweets from 2015’s deadline day show.
