Dennis Hobson and his consortium were bound to be mentioned with a possible takeover of the Owls following the departure of Dave Allen last week – and the rumours are growing.

Hobson, a Wednesday fan and boxing promoter, has long been showing an interest in investing in the club, but has so far seen his attempts blocked by the Owls board, headed by former chairman Dave Allen.

But Allen’s resignation from the Owls board and as chairman last Friday could well see a renewed attempt from Hobson and his Jersey-based consortium to get invovled with the club and even mount a takeover bid.

The Daily Express has been the first press, local or national, to link the Hobson’s with a takeover of the club in today’s paper, and the rumours are likely to continue growing in the coming days and weeks.

Shareholders could well pose the question at Thursday’s Annual General Meeting, with the current board of directors sure to dicsuss the current financial and boardroom situation at the meeting tomorrow morning.

But the Hobson deal could well be a while to take shape, with Dennis currently in America promoting Ricky Hatton’s fight with Floyd Mayweather.
