With the international break upon us, Stuart Gray took time to reflect on the season so far. The Owls having already matched last season`s points total, in which Gray took charge after a torrid start. That well publicised poor start to last season under an arrogant Dave Jones, lead to his sacking and after a long ‘trial’ Stuart Gray was appointed and guided the team to safety. He is now urging his side to reach the next milestone, a target he has clearly set.

Last weekend`s dramatic South Yorkshire derby win at Rotherham saw Wednesday move level with the 2013/14 return of 53 points. With seven games left to play, Gray is challenging his players to continue on an upward curve. As many stake a claim for a new or extended contract to remain with an extremely ambitious fanbase and new owner. Gray and his players know the expectations on their shoulders.

Gray spoke to swfc.co.uk and said: “Every football club has to make progress year on year. It`s a big positive that we have reached our total of last season but we don`t want to stop there. The target now is to get to 60 points, which is achievable. I want to finish as high up the table as possible and we have to make sure there is no danger of our season petering out.”

As prior stated on Vital Wednesday this blank weekend in the Championship calendar allows Wednesday’s squad to rest and key players to up the ante to return from injury.

Wednesday are set to return to duty on Saturday 4th April against Huddersfield Town at Hillsborough, as they look to maintain a top half finish.
