Owls boss Stuart Gray has revealed his interest in signing St Johnstone striker Stevie May.

The Scotland under-21 international has emerged as a Wednesday target this week after the forward looked destined for a move to Rotherham United.

Both Yorkshire clubs are keen to sign the youngster and although keeping tight-lipped on an approach, Gray did confirm his interest, saying: ‘We are not the only football club who are chasing a quality player.’

A fee of around £800,000 is being reported for the highly-rated player and the Owls have been boosted by funds received from the sale of Michail Antonio this week.

Any deal is not likely to be imminent, however, with May flying out with his teammates as the Saints face Spartak Trnava in a Europa League play-off.

Gray has not yet spoken to the striker and more movement is expected early next week after the Owls’ first game of the season.
