Wednesday boss Brian Laws has poured cold water over rumours linking Lee Grant with a move to Manchester City by claiming the reports are ‘rubbish’.

Premier League City were rumoured to be pondering the services of the former England under-21 man for £1.5 million as competition for regular number one Shay Given.

But Grant was arguably the Owls’ player of the season last term, and Laws will see the stopper as one of his key men for a promotion push in 2009-10.

And he told the Sheffield Star: ‘This is a load of rubbish.’

The former Derby County man penned a new deal to stay at S6 following the end of last season.

His form throughout last term saw the keeper linked with a number of high profile clubs including Manchester United and Newcastle United.

And Laws told The Star that Grant ‘is settled’ at S6 and ‘is not for sale’.

Of course, every player has his price, as has been shown before at Hillsborough with the sale of Chris Brunt and Madjid Bougherra in recent seasons.

But Owls fans can rest assured that Grant will be taking to the Hillsborough pitch in the Owls’ number one jersey next season, unless an unbelievable offer comes our way.
