Forestieri’s Wigan Performance In Numbers

The 2018/19 Championship campaign for Jos Luhukay saw plenty of goalmouth action, but Sheffield Wednesday came out of the game against Wigan Athletic with nothing to show for our efforts.

The hosts at the DW Stadium took the lead but Atdhe Nuhiu did have us back on level terms for a period in the first half. They added a second and a third before Fernando Forestieri scored but the whistle went on a 3-2 defeat.

Whoscored had the 28-year-old Italian striker down as our top performing player across the 90 minutes and having scored from his only effort on target, that would’ve certainly helped his rating of 7.71.

One key pass, a 77% pass accuracy added to the goal made it a decent opening day for the player on a personal front if nothing else.

He’ll have no doubt hoped to be more of a handful upfront but it was a difficult day for Wednesday and we now go into the next game looking for all three points instead, but if Forestieri can make his chances count, despite disappointment at the loss in the fanbase this weekend, there might be something to smile about this season.
